Lizzo Opens Up To Fans About Depression On Social Media
“Because of this sadness, I’m going to be able to feel joy”
American singer Melissa Viviane Jefferson, known by the name Lizzo, made an Instagram post on Friday revealing her deepest emotions on camera. In an effort to raise mental health awareness and combat body stereotypes, the Juice singer has struck fans with confidence, vivacity and joie de vivre time and time again.
Over the weekend, however, Lizzo expressed her sadness on social media saying that she is “depressed” and feels alone.

Following the melancholic video, she posted again, this time sharing with her followers around the world that something “incredible” has happened. “I’ve used sadness as a tool for gratitude,” she says, crying.

The singer added in the caption, “reaching out may be hard but as soon as I did it, I was immediately covered in love,” reminding fans that it’s okay not to be okay and that opening up to loved ones and emotional honesty is key.
“I learned in the last 24 hours that being emotionally honest can save your life.”
